Community Supported Agriculture
The figurative and literal sustaining energy of our farm comes from Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). Our CSA is realized through individuals and families who pledge support to the farm in exchange for a share of the harvest and an invitation to participate in a variety of community orientated events and educational opportunities. This direct, mutually beneficial agreement illustrates a powerful interdependancy between grower and consumer that truly captures the essence of re-localization.
Community members purchase a share of the harvest before the season begins. This provides us with needed capital to pay for seed, labor, maintenance, and harvesting. We provide the shareholders with a weekly delivery of fresh, local, organic produce. Members benefit by receiving a wide diversity of produce harvested and stored to maintain maximum nutrient content and the opportunity to develop a stronger relationship with their food. We are assured a market and receive reasonable wages for our efforts. With this arrangement all of us share in the risk, responsibility and reward inherent in growing food.
The food we grow for our members and extended regional community is the same food our family eats. Hence, we will never contaminate Earth with poisons that wage war against microscropic co-existing organisms, lace our foods with neuro-toxins and carcinogens and flow into our communal water supplies. We promise to sow and nourish our life-sustenance with ecologically and physiologically sound growing practices, as well as with the peace and love of our focused intentions.
