It's been almost 15 years to do the day since I started working on Small Farm Central. Thank you for the chance to serve you over the years and best of luck in farming. I will continue this work at Harvie and keep fighting for small farms throughout the rest of my career. There is so much work still to do.

Thank you for being a customer of Small Farm Central over the years -- I started this business in 2006 because I thought farms needed websites to better connect with their customers, increase sales, and create a better livelihood for the farm operators and their employees. Small Farm Central grew over time to include ecommerce, CSA management services, and more -- and served 1000s of farms across the US, Canada, and internationally.

That being said, I have bad news for you today.

The Small Farm Central service is extremely out-dated and we are working to sunset it (ie, shut it down) as soon as possible.

You may have noticed that email does not work well (or maybe at all) on Small Farm Central any more. Amazon SES, which is the email service provider for Small Farm Central, has changed their authentication requirements. We no longer have engineering resources that understand Small Farm Central and the infrastructure that is there so we have no way to remedy this issue.

In general, the current infrastructure is extremely brittle and I worry about an issue that will bring down the whole service. We have limited control to bring things back up.

We also no longer have support resources on Small Farm Central besides me, so support has not been up to the standard that was the past of Small Farm Central.

So, I’m sorry to say that is time for us all to move on and get you to a more modern service.

We will shut down the server on 9/1/2021, so you have a few months to make the necessary changes.
